Achievement / Trophy Hunting

Hey there!

Most of the time when i play games and i get addicted to them, it's just not enough for me to complete the story and sidequests (and in many games the collectibles as well),

but i find myself trying to hunt the possible achievements of a game. It just feels like only then the whole game is completed to 100% for me. Of course Horizon Zero Dawn and TESO: Skyrim are very big examples for that, but i want to know your opinion!

Are you kind of the same? Or are you strictly going through story and sidequests?

What are the games that made you hype your achievements?

Greetz!

My "thing" when I was still gaming was to finish games on Legendary mode (or whatever mode it would be called). Most games had either Easter eggs or unlockable "perfect" endings if you either did that or finished a game without losing a life (like Sonic hedgehog, Contra) so you always wanted to be the first to unlock it or tell yr friends what the perfect ending was.

Some games were so annoyingly tough with [censored]controls like... Bart vs Space Mutants for Sega Megadrive. I still have nightmares about that game.

I was fond of the football manager game, at one time I was playing it for two to three months.

Again, I was also playing the sims3 games until I get boredom!

I am an avid fan of open world games, haven't got much time to enjoy playing those.

To go after one goal, I had to give up a few things..

I haven't given much thought to complete all the achievements and trophies 🙂

I found myself googling the missing trophies and how to get them, then realised I was taking all the fun out of it and just stopped trying. 😛

It is pretty sweet seeing a 100% achievement on a game though.

This is more likely the problem for "hidden" trophies and such. And yeah, i feel it. Like when there are throphies like "turn for 360°, watch to the moon, jump 2 times and then shoot your foot" well.. people find these. but i am not one of them. but some of them are just ridicoulous to find at all.

I use to play through a game and take all the things with me (like for example Horizon and the collectibles there. as well as the trophy to complete the story with ALL acquointances. which i achieved just by playing the sidequests and else before ending the story) and then maybe look up what i missed. but like right now, its just hunting mobs of a designated amount and else - which is alright for me to do. and to replay the game on new game + (with the highest difficulty).

I also google trophies that i didnt achieve - but never the way how to achieve them.

Imagine playing Japanese language titles and spending the first few days or weeks learning what the options or controls meant, and then trying to find all the hidden things by trying every possible way to beat bosses without google. Yeah. all those wasted hours.

Nob mentioned Shining Force 2 once. I played the Japanese version. That game got me stuck for weeks on one map where you had to BRING an item given to you ages ago in your inventory, to open a cave. I recall it was a wide area with forests and a cave. I almost cried not knowing what to do. By the time I knew what to do, I'd leveled everyone up almost to max, earning 1 xp on everything haha.

I was so excited to try Final Fantasy 8 out with it's cool shiny graphics that I got the first disc as a Japanese pirate. I had absolutely no clue what was gong on but loved it. 😂

You have a great memory. Shining Force 2 was friggin' awesome! I might have to find a Mega Drive emulator now just to try it out again.
